Cyclone IPPEI

(named on July 28^th, 2007)

Cyclone IPPEI has developed above the Atlantic Ocean as a part of a connected low pressure systems consisting of low GEORG (with his centre above Scandinavia) and cyclone HEIMO (with centre above France). On July 28^th, 2007 IPPEI was named.

From the Atlantic Ocean oncoming IPPEI moved eastward and passed the south of England during the night, whereas more than 10 litres per square meter of rain were registered. In the Greater London 11 to 13 litres per square meter of rain were measured.

In the morning of July 29^th, 2007 the centre of IPPEI drifted across the Rhineland and was partially accompanied by strong rain falls. At the same time the corresponding area of rain spread eastward to Poland, crossing Saxony, Thuringia as well as the southern Brandenburg March.

During the following two days low IPPEI moved further in the direction of the Baltic States and reached Estonia in the morning of July 31^st, 2007. Thereby IPPEI had intensified to 993 Hectopascal. Until the next day IPPEI moved northwards to Finland, whereas during that night some thunderstorms occurred on the backside of his cold front near Moscow and Kiev.

On August 2^nd, 2007 the centre of IPPEI reached the Atlantic Ocean to the west of Norway. After that day the cyclone became too weak and thus it wasn’t identified by name on weather charts any more.
